The historic Phoenix Building in Ballarat is one of the key building assets of the Ballarat City Council. It required a retro fit boiler install to replace and upgrade the existing conventional type boiler heating system. The change over included dismantling and removing the installed boilers, and replacing them with Baxi PowerHT+ hi-efficiency condensing type boilers.
3 x Power HT+ 150kW models were used for the install, with a total heating output of 450kW. The compact size of the indoor boiler models used made the boilers easier to install in the confined space of the Plant Room. A stainless steel flue system was used to duct to external.
The boilers are installed in cascade controlled via the master boiler. The cascade software is built into all boilers and was activated and commissioned by HydroHeat. Cascade operation offers significant cost and energy saving as cascade enables the boilers to modulate to provide the heat load output required and avoid on/off cycling.
