Outdoor Plant for Primary School Heating

Mt Scopus College is one of Melbourne's leading co-educational institutions providing early learning, primary, and secondary schooling in a co-educational environment. The Smorgon centre specifically provides primary school learning from Years 4 to 6.

The Smorgon centre required a new outdoor heating plant and BAXI boilers were selected for the installation. The specification covered the complete system, including 2 x new BAXI Power HT+ 150kW gas floor mounted condensing boilers with built in modulating primary pumps, a stainless steel hydraulic separator for circulation through the boilers and heating system as well as ancillary pumps.

The BAXI Power HT+ outdoor boilers feature powder coated steel all weather covers for year-round operation whilst fully exposed to the elements. The boiler's rated efficiency is up to 105.5% at 50/30ºC, with the condensing burner reusing waste flue gases and reducing noxious waste (up to 80% NOx, 90% CO)

The two boilers operate in cascade to maximise efficiency and modulate their output to adjust and match to the load. There is also a condensate treatment system installed to neutralise the condensation before it is drained into the sewer.

The new heating plant provides a best in class, highly efficient gas heating solution that will fulfill heating requirements for many years to come.
